RADTriage – AN EMERGENCY DOSIMETER

In an event of a radiological incident, such as a dirty bomb explosion, accident at a nuclear power plant such as that at Chernobyl, Ukraine and Fukushima, Japan and nuclear bomb explosion, one of the first thing people need is a dosimeter to know their radiation exposure immediately. A credit card sized RADTriage dosimeter has a sensor which is a coating of highly radiation sensitive solid compounds called diacetylenes (R-C=C-C=C-R). Diacetylenes polymerize only in the solid state to form highly colored plastics/polydiacetylenes [(R)C-C=C-C(R)=] upon radiation. The sensor instantly develops noticeable color above 10 mSv. The color intensifies with increasing dose. The color development is cumulative & irreversible. The sensor is pre-calibrated. Dose up to 4,000 mSv is estimated by matching the color of the sensor with its adjacent color reference bars. A quick look at the dosimeter can assist users as well as medical and law enforcement personnel in triaging radiation exposure information.

The sensor of RADTriage monitors gamma/X-ray (>30 KeV), electrons/beta particles (>0.2 MeV) and neutrons. Effect of dose rate, energy and temperature of radiation is negligible. The operating temperature range is -20oC to +60oC and unaffected by normal ambient conditions.

RADTriage is an instant, self-indicating, user friendly, failproof (no electronic or moving parts), wearable and always ready 24/7/365 without a power source. It does not need a reader, calibration or maintenance. It is practically non-destructible, tamper resistant and tamper evident. RADTriage is the only stockpileable dosimeter, 100,000 RADTriage can be stockpile for a couple of decades in a cubic meter of a freezer and deployed quickly in emergency. It has the most desirable properties as an emergency personal dosimeter to minimize panic and worry and to triage radiation exposure for medical treatment in a radiological incident.

All other dosimeters are over sensitive and can cause more panic and worry. RADTriage costs a penny a day compared to nearly dollar a day for other dosimeters ($10-$20 for RADTriage Vs hundreds of dollars for other dosimeters, e.g., ~$300 for a bio-dosimetry). RADTriage is an internationally independently tested and field proven technology for two decades. Please click on http://youtu.be/uTaKmhyluHo for a few-minutes video on RADTriage.

Out of 50,000 RADTriage we sold after the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant incident, we received only three minor complains about the FIT indicator in the two years of use.” AucSale, Tokyo, Japan, a distributor.

The results of this research indicate that RadTriage cards could be a good tool to provide for routine use by emergency first responders.

8,000 RADTriage were used in the field by first responders in Israel for two years. We did not receive even a single complaint. Given the superb performance of RADTriage in the field, we are confident of another order from IMOD.” Dr. Guy Robin, a distributor in Israel.
